An Overkill Outlet Insulator
Another problem with standard AC wall receptacles is that they use a cheap nylon as an insulator in the outlets Jay explains. From my years developing components for X-Ray equipment I knew of an advanced polymer that has a much lower dielectric constant making it a far better insulator. It also has a much higher voltage standoff. In fact Ive used it in X-Ray cable connectors that had to handle 250000 volts.

Sure 250000-volt standoff capability may sound like overkill Jay admits. But audiophiles would demand nothing but the best when it comes to supplying power to their sensitive audio gear. So thats what I decided to use.

Firmly Gripping Beryllium Copper Contacts
Another pet peeve that Jay has with standard AC outlets is that almost all manufacturers use cheap thin brass for their AC contacts. Only a select few of those are even nickel-plated to prevent corrosion in wet environments. This isnt really an improvement. I believe that nickel plating is detrimental to performance.
